Well, it has been way too long since anyone has posted on this blog. Especially me. I have had quite a full summer so far. Including going to Portland, Arco, Rapid City and Durango. Not to mention Girls camp at Camp LoMia. most of it was done in June. and we topped it all off with a 4th of July camping trip to Greens Peak.
We came in to teh Lost River Valley by way of Craters of the Moon. We spent the morning there We even hiked through Indian Cave. It was awesome. Rae Dawn had never been there before.
This heard of antelope were just standing by the road side. We turned around and went back and were still able to get this picture, even though they had started to move away a little.
We had our choice of 3 cars to take on our trip. Tough choices. The Camero would have been fun but we probably would have gotten a ticket. We opted for practicality and took the SUV. Good choice. (The Harley was not an option.)

I had never seen both of my parents headstones side by side before. I was not quite prepared for the emotion that washed over me as I knelt on the ground and just missed them both so much. I am so grateful for parents who loved me and taught me so many things.
The desert was so green. I have never seen it that green. The Indian Paintbrush are beautiful. The sage smells so fresh. I picked some and put it in my suitcase.
Rae Dawn, my city cousin, didn't understand that the one riding shotgun has to get the gate. My other cousin Larry, the rancher, knows this rule and insisted that she get the gate. Well she did a pretty good job. We lonly had to help her a little. ;) See the Big Butte in the background. Larry took us out to it. I had never been out to it before. It is amazing.
The Box Canyon was flowing really well. Lot's of water this year, at least for now.
The farm is a graveyard of amazong old trucks and cars and farm equipment. See the hay derrick and the combine in the background? Lots of memories are there.
Rae Dawn and I had a great time. Aunt Marie and Larry were great hosts. Aunt Marie fed us every day. And Larry took so much time to show us around the town and the desert. I have lots more pictures. I would be happy to share if anyone is interested.

You should have posted more pictures! I want to see them! I'll come over and look. I really liked seeing grandma and grandpas headstones. I stared at those pictures for a while.
Me, too, Shannon. This looks like a fun trip Mom. One just for you. You needed/deserved it. I am glad you got to go.
