So, Bruce and I went to Bagdad for a weekend in July. Donna and Dean invited us up and showed us a great time. On Saturday, we took the "boogies" out and put about 80 miles on them in about 6 hours. There is so much diversity in the landscape in that part of AZ. It is amazing and there is so much to see.
We went to the back of this mine. It is carved out of solid rock and goes back in the rock a couple hundred feet maybe. It is pitch black in there. We had one little flashlight between the 4 of us. At one point the ceiling is a little lower and we were ducking down. I felt something on my neck and asked Donna to shine the light on the ceiling. It was teaming with thousands of daddy longlegs. Very "Indiana Jones". It was pretty creepy, and we knew we had to go past them again to get out. This picture is in the very back of the mine.
We also went to see the "Black Pearl" mine. It is really an amazing place. And not to easy to get to. But it is worth the trip. If only these old places could talk. There are not too many places where you can still go on a beautiful Saturday morning, and drive for hours on the backroads and not see another vehicle.
Paul and Beth Quist brought their little family and came along with us for part of the day.
