Not just another day at work...

Yesterday started out about as normal as any other day at US Airways Club. I got to work at 4:45 and I'm scheduled to work til 10:15.

The weather was fine. Around 8:30 we it looked like there was some distant lightning. And a passenger asked me if that was going to effect the airplane departures. I told him "No, this time of year we usually get light thunderstorms every night but it's nothing to worry about." I told him that because we had heard that the storm was far away and was going to miss us. After all we had not even seen one drop of rain or wind. All it was was lightning way off in the distance.

Well about an hour went by, the club closes at 10:00 so people were starting to shuffle out. There was a bar tender in the back, I was sitting at the front at my computer as well as my co worker Donna, and there was one member left who was doing something on his lap top under the windows in the middle of the club.

It started to sprinkle a little bit and Donna said "It looks like we might get some rain after all." I wanted to see it so I walked over to where I could see out of the big windows. And it was really coming down by then. The wind was blowing, too. Pretty hard for how fast it started to rain. And I heard a howling sound which was unusual. I said quietly "This is really creepy." "What" Donna asked. And the wind was blowing so hard that it was making the weirdest howling noise and the lights flickered... and I was like "No this is REALLY creepy!"

All of the sudden there was this moment when everything kinda went in slow motion. I had this feeling that something really bad was about to happen and I just had to figure out what it was. My brain was going like a thousand miles an hour but everything else was stoped. I just knew something was about to happen. Just then I saw the guy just sitting there working on his lap top under the window and I said to him calmly "You need to come out from under the window." and he was confused and taking his time getting his computer and gathering his stuff. I screamed! "YOU NEED TO GET OUT FROM UNDER THOSE WINDOWS NOW!" Not with in a second and the entire wall of great big window panels came blasting in! Right on top of where he was sitting! The club is now filled with 90mile an hour winds, and rain, and shards of broken glass and shutters and whatever else was in the club that is being blown around. I felt like i was in wizard of oz. The guy runs for it, I don't know where the bar tender is or if he's hurt, but me and me coworker are under our desks on the phone with emergency. It was like a tornado in there. They told us to get out asap. When we got out the entire airport was being evacuated and was filled with what looked like ash or smoke so I thought the airport was on fire. Turns out the wind had blown all the dust from the vents back into the airport and people were choking on it. But no planes were leaving sky harbor that night, unfortunatly.

Anyway.... the wind didn't last long, as AZ storms usually don't, and thankfully no one got hurt. Every one came away from this with a really exciting story. The US Airways Phoenix Club on the other hand, is destroyed. Demolished. Mother nature had it's way with it.

ah just another day at the office.

Wedding Album

Tooth Fairy Comes Tonight

Brooklyn finally lost her first tooth! It has been hanging on by a thread for a long time, but she REFUSED to let anyone even touch it! This picture is of James "torturing" her yesterday (or trying to). Ya..that didn't go over too well.Today when she came home from school it looked like it had fallen out, because it was just laying totally flat in her mouth. James talked her into letting him just try once. He got a paper towel (the least scary thing he could think of) to pull it out with and he gave one good pull. She said, "STOP!" (Which was the agreed upon signal if she didn't want him to try any more) and he stopped. He said, "Let me just try one more time Brooklyn." She started crying and shaking her head. Then Daddy showed her the tooth in the paper towel. We all screamed and Macey danced around (so excited for her sister). Brooklyn went to look in the mirror and said it didn't even hurt. She looks so cute and can't stop looking at herself in the mirror.
She and Macey are already talking about what they can buy with the money the Tooth Fairy leaves... I hope she isn't too disappointed with the few quarters the "Tooth Fairy" dug up from the couch cushions!

Good Times

Here are a few good pics until I get them all organized for you all.
Jeanine edited out the exit sign. Wow. Dad is the only one you can barely see. Grant is getting tall. How about the fact that Coleen is all skinny, not pregnant, and holding no baby... it's been a while.
Remember when we thought for just a split second that we might be able to get kids to sit for a picture with me? This was the best one. And I think we're missing 2. That was a long shot. Brooklyn looks like a supermodel in every picture though.Mom and Dad are adorable. This is the only one I have and Nancy's eyes are closed :(

Jamaica pictures are coming, too.

The rest of my reunion pics....

Just some of the rest of the pics I took at the reunion. The final 2 days activities I did not have my camera :( because I came straight from work.

Pictures are coming...

I know you guys are all anxious to see posts of pictures at the reception that Jeanine took. I have them. They are on a dvd. I just haven't had a chance to put them together for a good post. There are some really cute ones, too. She took a really good one of the whole family that she edited really nice and everyone is smiling and all the kids look great and we rock! I also have a whole bunch of really fun pictures from Jamaica. So how do I share all these photos????! One post at a time? I don't even know.

(Right now I'm at work so that is the explanation for the picture I've posted here. I know you've already seen it. I just don't like posting with out a photo and I had to steal this pic from dreamreceptions.com)

I'm having so much fun being married. We're going through gifts and trying to put the house together. I'm realizing I have no idea what I'm doing. Sisters, I need help. For instance: What goes in a kitchen hutch? Is that even what it's called? What is a horse shoe? Are there any horse socks? Is anybody listening to me?

Anyway... being a newlywed is great! And I love my husband. Thanks again for all your help with the wedding. I have such a wonderful family. He always says how lucky he is. We are pretty freakin cool.

Love,

Shannon

What's Kindergarten gonna be like?....

So I was listening to Bryton and Kolton talking in their beds the other night. They were talking about what kindergarten might be like (they talk about this a lot at bed time lately). They have been asking each other a lot of what ifs about it. So here is what I heard.

K - "What if they have a room where they put you if you get embarrased?"
B - "Yeah and its called The Embarrassing Room."
K - "And what if when you walk in, your clothes all dissappear, because that would be even more embarrassinger!"
B - "Then everyone just stays in there being embarrased"

Where do they come up with this stuff???? They are so funny! (and obviously a little worried about being "shy" (or embarrassed,I guess) at kindergarten). :)

Kaden is SEVEN years old!!

We can't beleive that Kaden is already 7!! Kaden had an awesome birthday this year. He said he wouldn't change a thing about it - it was perfect. He picked a monster truck-themed cake after much thought! :) Kaden started his birthday with "birthday pancakes". Then he put together a lego cement mixer, that he got for his birthday, all by himself, with no help from us! It was awesome. He loves legos!!! Then to celebrate his birthday we went to the Seattle Aquarium. Kaden invited The Jacksons and several friends and then some of their families came too! It was perfect because it was very crowded at the aquarium and it was nice to assign the older kids to a younger one! :) They loved watching this diver in the tank at the end of our visit. He is a happy, wonderful, helpful, 7 year old, first-grader! We love him so much!!! I am so thankful that I get to be his Mom!

Baby's on it's Way....

I had a doctor's appointment today and an ultrasound (thanks to Steven's extra-large size at birth, they wanted to see how big this baby was). True to Moore baby style, he is measuring approximately 39 weeks gestational age and 8 pounds. So...it won't be the runt that James was joking we'd have. He'll be another Moore boy, and we LOVE it! (The doc said that we really wouldn't worry too much unless he was measuring around 11 pounds...whew...that would be big.) Steven and I got to see the baby practicing its breathing (I didn't even know they did that!) and kicking me (over and over). We saw that he has quite a bit of hair, chubby cheeks (imagine that) and big ol' feet! I have a friend that is going through a miscarriage right now and I realize that we have been SO blessed with another healthy baby. The tears unexpectedly flowed through the entire ultrasound. I was so overwhelmed with gratitude for this little Spirit that will soon join our family. It won't be long now...we will keep you posted!

...and the end of the day

I was the one picking them up on the first day, so here is the picture I took of them as they waited for me to get them. I was actually a little early so I got to go in and watch as 32 Kindergarteners participated in PE. That was so fun to watch. I hope you guys have a great year.

Gotta go back....back....back to school again!....

Well, the kids have just finished thier first whole week back to school!! So far everything has been great. The kids love thier teachers and have not had any homework, so we've cruised through this week. Hopefully we can keep it up as the weeks roll on. Here are some pics of the first day!
I didn't get any pictures of them as they walked onto the campus, because this is as far as I was with them. I had to get ready for WORK each day, so Lennie was taking them to school.
Yep, I finally started work this week. It has been a long week!! I worked 40 hours....It's been a LONG LONG LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time since I have worked 40. Even when I was "full time" at the hospital last time I was 32 hours. PHEW. This week was all day shift, and I feel like I cannot settle in really since this is not going to be my schedule. But it was all good! I couldn't have gotten through the week without Lennie, Mom, and Lennie's dad to help me out....THANKS SO MUCH!! I am glad it is the weekend, and I don't work until Tuesday (more day shift).

We are family, I got all my sisters with me...

Thanks again, everyone! We had a great week with you all! I have a ton of pictures (618 to be exact) of all the fun things we did. Any ideas of how to share some of the good ones?? Maybe you all took pictures too and you don't need to see mine - I don't know. We are already missing you all and still laughing and enjoying the memories! :) Thank you for a super fun reunion, we won't forget it!

WE DID IT!!!

We got married yesterday! It was perfect! Our ministers name was Rev Lionel Rose. He was AWESOME. He was half as tall as Donald and such a sweet heart. The whole thing took only 25 minutes :) And we got lots of good pictures. We actually only got pictures because the resort people liked us so much. Technically they want you to buy their photo packages, and the cheapest one is like 250 bones. So we just brought our camera but we didn't think about the fact that we would only be able to take pictures of each other :( But the wedding planner girl felt bad for us and she gave my camera to the resorts photographer and made him take all our pictures. She was so nice. We had fun and the ceremony was simple and very special. Neither one of us liked having to say "til death do us part" but we will change that someday.

Ya Man

From Jamaica...

Just wanted to tell everyone we are here and we are safe. The flights went smooth, Donald and I slept like big babies the whole time. We couldn't even stay awake for 20 min to fill out our customs cards so we had to be in the way back of the line when we got off the plane. Good thing is about Jamaican Customs is... they don't really even check you "Don' worry 'bout a 'ting, man"
Anyway just wanted to check in once and let you all know we are having SO much fun!!! The water is BLUE and we are really getting married tomorrow. :) I'm so excited to be Mrs. Weir! And Donald is so excited to be Mr. Daly! That's how it works right?
