Some sad news from us.....

Lennie's mom is in the hospital in serious condition. She fell a week ago Wednesday, and the next day, Lennie took her to the ER because she was having trouble breathing. We thought it was from the fall, but it wasn't. After many tests and such, it was determined that she had pneumonia, congestive heart failure, kidney failure, and she had had a silent heart attack. She was having so much trouble breathing that they put her on a ventilator last Friday. They started to "wake her up" by turning off the sedation medication on Sunday, but she isnt waking up. They did a CT scan on Monday, and they found an area of bleeding in her brain. At that point they transferred her to Good Samaritan. That is where she is now. She is still on the ventilator, because she is not waking up (but she is no longer on the medicine). The neurologist said that the bleeding in her brain was probably from the Heparin (blood thinner) they gave her when they realized she had had a heart attack, and is NOT the cause of her not waking up. They just don't know why she isnt waking up. We are all waiting for the answer to that question.

With mom in the hospital, the extended Starks family didnt do a whole lot for Christmas, and we missed that. We did go to Dece and Tony's for dinner. Tony cooked a whole spread for just our two families, and it was VERY GOOD. We spent a nice relaxing few hours playing games and spending time together not at the hospital. It was very nice, and we all needed it...even if it wasnt the usual celebration.

We are so thankful for both of our families. We really did enjoy Christmas because we have wonderful families who love and support us. If you could keep Lennie's mom and the rest of the family in your prayers, it would be appreciated.
