It's a small world

Yesterday while I was driving, I got a phone call on the shop number (I had forwarded the phones). The lady on the other end of the phone asked if this was the Daly residence. I said that it was and that this was Lois. She asked if I had a son on a Mission in South Dakota. I said yes and she asked if his name was Kevin. I told her it was and she said she used to live in that area and still gets the weekly paper from there. When she was reading the most recent one she saw a feature called "Cook of The Week. Elder Daly and Elder Hee were featured with a nice article and a photograph. She thought that his mother would like to have this paper and since he was from Mesa AZ, she would try to find her. Her jusband told her that it would be pointless to try as there were probably a hundred Daly's in Mesa. But whe was determined to try. She opened the phone book and saw about 30 or so Dalys listed. So she started looking down the list. Her finger stopped when she came to the name Lois. That was here name. It was a long shot but it was worth a try. So she picked up the phone and dialed and got me. I was the first one she called and she called me because we are both named Lois. Coincidence? I don't think so. Well we talked for a while and I made arrangements to go to her home and pick up the paper. I came home first and got my camera, a Book of Mormon, (the one the missionaries in Seattle gave me to give away) and the March copy of the Ensign featuring testimonies of Christ and a pass along card with contact information for the church. When I got to her home, she asked if I had time to sit and visit for a few minutes, she had made lemonade. Of course I said yes. We had a nice visit and we talked about our families and things like that. I asked her husband to take this picture of us. I want to send a copy of it to Kevin. We talked about how this meeting was not by chance and she asked me what I thought that meant. I offered her the things I had brought and asked her if she had a Book of Mormon. She said she had had one but that she didn't really read it. They asked what stake I was in and where it was and I told them. I asked them if they had a church that they were affiliated with and they told me about the non-denominational one in the park that her husband is on the board of. She gave me her e-mail address so that I can send her a copy of the picture that her husband took of us, and so that we can keep in touch. One more little side note, they just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and their flowers came from Watsons. One of her children or grandchildren lives in Johnson Ranch and knows someone down there who recomended Watsons Flowers. I thought this was a pretty cool story.
To be continued?

It looks like I need to go back and get a better picture. Oops. Sorry, you can't even see the picture because the paper folded down and Jack must have had very shakey hands.

WOW!! Love that story. I have goose bumps on my arms and tears in my eyes....Heavenly Father is so amazing!! In fact, once we see how it plays out, you could write it up and send it to the Ensign or something!

When I told the story to James, he said the same thing as Christi...you should send it in to the Ensign! That is really awesome. Kevin is being "used" on his mission at home, too. Isn't that amazing?
