This year our lemon tree was OVERFLOWING with fruit. The trees are already in bloom for next season, so all the fruit from this season must come off. We were able to eat and/or give away all our navels, tangelos and grapefruit, but we had SO many lemons. Lennie told the kids if they picked it and bagged it, they could sell it and keep the $$. They were in charge of setting the selling price and deciding how many went in a bag, etc. (of course with a bit of guidance from mom and dad....Lenard's first thought was that he was gonna get RICH off the lemons, hee hee). In the end they sold them for $1 a bag, and each bag had 15 lemons in it and weighed between 6 and 9 lbs. Lenard made the sign, and they set up shop at the end of the driveway. Our road is not terribly busy, but they did make $5 (to split between them) in about an hour. :) We've been so busy in the afternoons that they haven't had a chance to go back out to sell, but they are anxious to earn some more money!

Hey Starks kids, This is Grandma, I still want to buy my bag of lemons. Let me know when the stand will be open again so I can come and get em! I need a good glass of lemonade. ;)
The questions is...what are you gonna spend all that dough on?
I wish we were there to buy them. Theres nothing like fresh squeezed lemonade.
P.S. Christi, whatever happened to the "forbidden fruit"? Did you partake? ;0)
