A Farewell to Boston

Boston has so many fun things. This hopscotch is set in the sidewalk in front of this really old school. It has so much detail. It is amazing. In Boston you can't really see the city unless you walk it. So we did a lot of walking. It was great.

This is a political statue. It talks about the Democrat and Republican mayors of Boston. The feet prints I am standing in are the republicans facing off with the democrats.

This is the tribute to the real ducks from the "Make Way for Ducklings" childrens book. It really did happen in this park in Boston. The island is still in the middle of the lake but the lake is dry right now because it is still winter in Boston.

It was sooooo cold on this day. I don't think it got above 35 degrees all day. And the wind was blowing up to 30 MPH. This is the pier in front of Shannons house and the city of Boston on the other side.

Can you believe how blue the sky is in this picture? On Sunday we drove out to see the Boston Temple. It is like a celestial castle on a hill. You just have to see it to understand. Can you even imagine this view in the summer or fall? What a beautiful place.

Shannon, thank you for a wonderful time in Boston. I know you are going to miss it. How could you not? Now get your booty home!!

The New Bed

This is the girls "new" bunk bed! They were so excited they wanted me to post a picture. I thought I'd take a picture now, because the bed is made and it may never happen again. I wanted to SCREAM when I was trying to get the sheets on (I had to take the mattresses completely off). Any tips on making bunk beds? I made the headboard by stapling some placemats that I got at Target for $1.

Being the Husband!

sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssggn hbgm hvv bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzffbhhh gbre n6ybntr (zAyAh wanted to type something...) Okay kay kay....

Things I love about pregnancy...
seeing and feeling baby move
hearing baby's heart beat
ultrasounds
picking names
the food cravings ( that's when my belly grows...hehehe)
well today I asked zayah where baby was, because I had my shirt off he pointed to and started rubbing my belly! hahaha zayah not funny!!!

Things I deal with...
being the chauffeur
doctors appointments
changing DODO diapers
harassment of Suzi cause I haven't finalized a name
emotional mood swings
sleep deprivation (Cause it's hard for Suzi to get comfortable so I the firm leverage for her to move to get comfortable)

Things I hate...
The part where I can't take the pain away!

I love this process of pregnancy because of the need for unity, the force of cooperation, and overwhelming compassion towards each other. I love my beautiful wife and the oppertunity that Heavenly Father has given me to experience this process with a strong spirited daughter. How blessed I am to be a husband!

Cub-anapolis 500!

Tonight was Pack Meeting, and it was our ward's annual Cub-anapolis 500. The boys make cars out of cardboard boxes and then they have a race. They have stations that they have to stop at...like a window wash (they get water squirted on their faces and they have to wipe it off)....a refueling station (they have to drink an 8oz glass of water)....and a tire changing station (they have to take of thier shoes and socks..put their socks back on inside out and put thier shoes back on) and then run to the finish line. It is a bunch of fun for the boys and for us watching too. Jonny did great...he came in first in his "bear" group, and 2nd overall. FUN!! Hard to believe that Lenard is not in cub's anymore, so that is why he wasn't a part of this....he was in charge of taking some video of the race....I have not uploaded or viewed it yet, but hopefully we'll have some footage for you tomorrow.

Traitor post

I posted a little thing on my other families' blog. It's too long to type again and it's no big deal, but if you want to, you can check it out.

Spanish Adventure 2008 Day #3....

A couple things I didnt mention in my last post....

1) when we went to Boston, Shannon was SO SO SO great to us. She put us up and catered to us, seriously!! We owe her big time for being there for us...it made the start of our trip truly GREAT!! And I really think that we were meant to go there...and spend time with Shannon....something we dont get a chance to do often. THANKS SHANNON!!

2) On Friday night when we we did not get on the plane to Madrid, one of our 3 bags apparently did!!! ALL of our clothes....No one could really tell us for SURE if it had gotten on the flight without us. So when we were in philly we had no clothes except what we were wearing (although we did have all our clean underwear as we had packed that in a separate bag.....YEAH!!). We had to trust and HOPE that our bag would actually be waiting for us in Madrid when we got there.---------->bitting our nails!!

Day #3 - Saturday March 15 - Check out time of the Hotel was noon....our flight wasnt until almost 9pm, so we knew we were in for another long day at the airport, but we were SO thankful that we had gotten a good nights rest!! We checked out at noon and went next door to Denny's for food...and to kill a little time before catching the shuttle to the airport.

Once at the airport, we went to check our bags...we had decided that after all this, we DID want to go ahead and pay for the upgrades to first class. Well we asked the ticket counter lady and she said....do you have other clothes?? We said "huh?"....apparently you cannot sit in first class in jeans and tennis shoes. We, of course, did not have any other clothes....they were presumably already in Spain. Oh well....we didn't buy the upgrades. We sat and waited...getting text updates from Shannon all the while. In the end, there were a couple of connecting flights that were gonna be late, so we were GETTING ON!! YAY!! I stood close to the counter waiting for them to call our names. When they did I rushed up there and she said, I sat you in first class, I need your upgrades??!! I told her I didnt have them, she said did I want it or not....I said YES!! She told me where I could go to pay for them, but I had to HURRY!! Off I ran. Paid for them, ran back, Lennie and I got on the plane to first class, jeans and tennies and all (there were others in first class with them too, so I guess they just werent being strict). When I found my seat (we were not seated next to each other) I realized I was in SUPER first class or something....I was in the most forward cabin....even in front of first class, and my seat did more that just recline, it folded FLAT....like a bed. Whoa, mama!! But I really wanted to sit by Lennie, so I was asking the flight attendant that if she could arrange it for us to sit next to each other that would be great....the guy who was assigned the seat next to me said...."I'll switch with your husband". How NICE of him. So he went back into the regular first class seats, and Lennie got to come up by me. Man, do they ever cater to you there. I have never experienced anything like it on a flight!! It was like we were the only two people on the plane. We had SO MUCH room, we could lay down, we had our own personal movie screens, we could choose from 10 movies, lots of TV channels, and tons of music to listen to. The food was fabulous too. They served a 3 course meal, and snacks, and all the drinks you could drink! WOW, talk about living the high life! We were able to sleep and rest very easily which was nice because we were landing in Madrid at 9am on Sunday morning, so it was going to be a long time before we could sleep again. I now regret not taking any pictures of us on the plane....it didn't occur to me at the time (what kind of scrapbooker am I?), I was just so happy to be on our way!!

More to come......

Suprise!!!

We were driving home to night and what a surprise we got on the way home. It has been snowing since about 4:00pm and has not stoped. We all had a huge snow ball fight with all of the neighbor kids tonight. it was great 15 kids against Me we had a blast. We hope the snow will still be there when we wake up so we can pull the sled around with the quad.

Some old pics you might not have seen

We just got this disc from our photographer (we should have used Megan's Mom). Here are some good memries. I wish the Moores would have been there but I understand. At least they will probably be here in August for mine and Megan's birthday. I think that is all that going on August 8 I am glad that everyone loves us so much that they are willing to travel thousands of miles just to come and see us. Shannon and Donald even said they were throwing a huge birthday dinner for us in Sedona and a party the day after in Mesa.

Spring break and then some...

Spring break at our house was fun. We had Jon and Grant with us. One night we had a bonfire. I tried to capture the colors of the flames but the pictures just do not do them justice. They were awesome.

We went on walks in the desert and hikes in the hills. We are trying to stay fit. Stacie, This one is for you. ;)

Then there was camping at Oak Flats. We were right by this big tree with a swing rope already in it. Rob and Jon got a little tree climbing in.

Bouldering down by the cave was awesome. Rob made the bridge, but no one wnated to try to cross it! I wonder why?

Jon and Grant went out on a ledge for this one. Christi, don't panic, they chose to go out there.

Zayah was not so sure about mornings. He was just vegging and getting warmed up for the day.

The big boys did a little cliff jumping at the bottom of Devils Canyon.

Even the little ones got in on the act. Jon and Sadie did their own "cliff" jumping. Grant says he can tell you why it is called Devils Canyon!!

And then it was Easter. No bunny, no baskets, just the traditional coloring of the hard boiled eggs. But mostly remembering our savior and what he has done for us.

Christi and Lennie's Spanish Adventure....

and what an adventure it WAS!!! I'll have to tell the story in bits and pieces, because I won't have time to tell it all at once. I know many of you have heard the story, but I am telling it here for those who are out of town :o)

Day 1 - March 13th (Thursday). We were flying out of Sky Harbor on buddy passes (THANKS SHANNON!!) we were hoping to get on the earliest flight just to be sure we got there in plenty of time. It didnt look like it was going to happen, but at the last second, we both got on the plane, YAY!! We flew to Philadelphia, and had about 4 hours until we were supposed to catch the evening flight to Madrid (there is just one a day). We got our bags, got them rechecked to Spain...and were just hanging out in the airport waiting. I decided to pay for the upgraded seats - so we could sit in first class - so I got in line at the customer service counter. While in line there, I was listening to people talk around me....and it became clear that the flight to Madrid had been CANCELLED!! The whole thing! I called Shannon and she said, that unfortunately that was right. We talked about what we should do, and we agreed that we should take this chance to go up to Boston and visit Shannon for a day or two until we could get out to Madrid....so we headed to get our luggage and RAN to the gate for the Boston flight!

Day 2 - March 14th (Friday) - We got up in the morning and Shannon took us to this little diner on a corner close to her house for Breakfast...YUM YUM!!! Then she took us out to show us the city. We have never been to Boston, so there was plenty to see (and we only saw a bit of it). Shannon was all bundled up and kept telling us we should be cold....but we werent...the weather was GORGEOUS! We went to Boston Common and Walked along about half of the Freedom Trail. It was so neat!! I took pictures, and I have posted them into a web album so everyone can see. I have not had time to add comments so that you'll know what everything is, but I am getting to it, I promise. Among the things we saw were the graves of John Hancock, Samuel Adams, Mother Goose, Paul Revere, and Benjamin Franklin's parents....and the old State House where the declaration of independance was read for the first time. At about one o'clock, we had to head back so Shannon could get to work. We debated whether we should stay in Boston another night (since the chances of getting on this flight were slim due to all the passengers that would be rolling over fromt he previously cancelled flight) or go back to Philly and see what happens. We decided we should take the chance back in Philly....just in case a miracle happened....we REALLY wanted to get to Spain in time to go to church on Sunday in the branch where Lennie had served. So back we headed, but we did not get on the flight. We decided this time to just get a hotel in Philly. We went online and got a good rate on a nice room at a Holiday Inn with free airport shuttles, and that is where we spent Friday night.

That is all I am going to post for now...gotta get Sadie to school. Here is the link to the album with all the pictures from our whole trip. If you click on the little magnifying glass above the photos and slightly to the right, they enlarge and you can look at them a bit closer. Eventually, I'll have captions so you'll know what each one is, but you can look now if you want to.

Our Future

I guess James will graduate on time and we won't be here till December 2009 after all!!!!!! The Dean decided to let then take the class that they were going to have to take in the Fall of 2009 in the Fall of 2008 instead! (The professor is just putting in extra time to do the class just for this group of students. Super nice.) Then, the summer thing-graduation is May 13th (or close) 2009. They will just have to do 100% attendance for about 3 or 4 weeks and that will fulfill the whole summer requirement! It won't affect boards or anything and a lot of people have to do that anyway to finish requirements for graduation. SOOOOO...as of now, we are not staying in Indiana for school or work past the first week in June of 2009!!!!! (Happy Birthday to me.) That also means we can come home for Shannon's wedding in August. Yay........We are excited.

Jon's Bug-y Artwork....

Jon checked out a book about how to draw insects from the library at school, and he made some pretty cool creations with it. He asked me to share them with everyone....here they are!

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday we went to Church and Zayah got to try Nursery for the first time. He did okay except for the fact he was so so tired and they Brought him to us the last hour. I guess he was laying in the middle of the floor ready for a nap =) We came home took a nap and got dinner ready. Zayah and the Starks kids got to color eggs after dinner with grandma and Jaba, then Zayah went on his first Easter egg hunt. It was fun. Most of his eggs didn't make it into his basket without being dropped a few times =). We love you family! It was great to be with those who live here and we miss those who are not. We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.
TeamAumua

Zayah wasn't feeling very well last week. When it came to bed time he didn't want to go. So i let him stay up. I knew he was tired because he was asking for his blanket. He wrapped himself up in it and sat in his favorite spider man chair. He fell asleep in just a few minutes. He is such a big boy. Thank goodness he is feeling better!

We miss you guy so much! It was good to chit chat for a little. Sorry I missed ya Tod-oh you were out busy with Honey-Do's! Well have a great week everyone! Hey James so any news with the big move or still in the mist with school? Anyways we went camping past weekend and boy was I wishing that everyone was there! We would've been either busting the flow with James on the Guitar, or Talking some inappropriate subjects (ex: Farting, pooping in your pants, sex etc...) that Tod-oh and Rob-oh would bring up! Kevin would've easly pulled out couple dead tree trunks for our fire. Lenni not forgetting to bring his shot guns to have some real fun, Dave will be giving us the 411 on all the sports, with all this going on and still trying to either over hear the topics of the sisterly talk or trying not to hear them cause we're having too much fun!

Love ya'll

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We miss you all so much! We can't beleive how long its been since we have seen a lot of you! Tonight for Easter dinner we had Ham, corn, bread, and of course Mom's potato salad. Thanks for letting us share our lives with you, even from far away! We love it when you all share too!! It keeps us all connected! We love you all!! :)

I love the world at Easter time...

At our house the Easter bunny comes on Saturday. Then we egg hunt and celebrate spring. So to help us change from our exciting spring celebration to our reverent celebration of Jesus' ressurection, on Saturday night we read this poem and then we each pot a blooming flower.
I love the world at Easter time
Because everything is new.
There are blossoms on our fruit trees,
And in our garden too.
And where the grass was dead ans brown,
Its starting to look green.
The world just seems to come alive
Whenever it is spring.
It makes me think of Jesus
And that great, first Easter Day,
Of how he came to live on earth
To teach us to obey.
He died for us up on the cross
And suffered for our sins.
Then, like the trees and flowers in spring,
He came to life again.
And now when it is springtime,
I'm filled with Jesus' love.
I know he rose again so I
Could live with Him above.
